[Oh. OH! This? This was news. Her hands trembled slightly as she pushed open the bathroom door and peeked out into the living room and kitchen.]

Charming?

Character Name: Snow White/Mary Margaret Blanchard
Series: Once Upon a Time
Timeline: End of Ep 2x09
Canon Resource Link: Snow White | Mary Margaret
Character Background: Snow White was born to King Leopold and his wife Queen Eva. She was raised a princess in what soon became the Dark Palace. Eva died when Snow White was very small, leaving her motherless and a tiny bit rebellious, and a tiny bit crushed for good. Meeting Regina felt like a lucky bolt of fate as she was saved by the young woman when her horse went out of control. When Regina was selected to become the new Queen, Snow thought she had found happiness and a new mother, but she soon came to discover that Regina loved another.

Instead of a new mother and a new friend, ten year old Snow made herself a powerful enemy, one who would soon cause her life to turn on end.

Life twisted violently when her father died and Snow became an outlaw under Regina's new found kingdom. She escaped death narrowly, convincing the Huntsman sent after her heart that she only had good and decent intentions toward Regina and hoped that her own death would bring peace and stability to the kingdom.

It goes without saying it didn't. Snow fled, making a new life for herself as an outlaw and a bandit, stealing only from the Queen if and when she had to and that is how she met her Charming. James was every bit a foil to her life on the run, making her want to stop and stay and fight for what was rightfully hers.

But they weren't alone. Snow made many friends in the years she was on the run and when it came time to rid the throne of Regina, she had more allies than ever before.

Marriage. Marriage was everything Snow had thought it would be as a little girl. Marriage to her own Prince Charming was...perfect. She loved James whole-heartedly and with everything she had and she knew, absolutely 100% that he felt the same for her.

All of that would change, however, with the curse. Snow's pregnancy was an uneasy time and Emma's birth was nothing short of traumatic, and no matter how much she wanted to keep her baby girl, she understood that Emma would have the best chance elsewhere, away from the curse that was about to take hold.

Mary Margaret only has vague memories of the supposed 26 years of life she spent in Storybrooke. She knows her love life was always Dead on Arrival and her friends weren't...really as close as she might want. They had their own lives, with their own troubles and she didn't want to be a bother. Volunteer work came naturally to Mary Margaret. She liked to think that she could bring a little goodness and happiness to people's lives who had it worse than her.

Fairy tales. Fairy tales just did not exist for Mary Margaret.

When Henry was adopted, things began to stabilize. He aged and changed and came into her class and made his way into her heart easily. Her most solid memories came with the arrival of Emma, and each day was more clear than any other from that point onward. Every week Emma stayed, the events felt more real than any other in Mary Margaret's life. The heartache was real, the betrayal, the disappointments, they all stuck around.

And only part of that involved David. David who twisted her life around and made her as happy as she had ever been and even more miserable, David whose marriage she still thinks she destroyed, who the town blamed her and hated her for destroying, David who was only half her problems.

Being imprisoned was a nightmare. Not only testing her sense of self, but also stressing the few relationships she thought she could depend upon. Especially the one she had formed with Emma.

The curse breaking was the best and worst feeling, Snow had ever felt. And just when she hoped things would return to something resembling normal? She gets sucked through a portal to a ruined fairy tale land. There she bonds with Emma in a way that might not have been possible elsewhere. She got to prove beyond a shadow of a doubt how much Emma was wanted and loved and that she would do anything, anything to keep her safe.

Getting back to Storybrooke wasn't easy. They had to contend with Cora, Regina's abusive and evil mother and Captain Hook whose agenda was his own. The portal home was almost disrupted by Rumpelstiltskin and Regina's attempts to keep Cora from coming through to Storybrooke, but Henry changed Regina's mind at the very last second, thus letting Snow and Emma come home for good.

Third-Person Sample: Snow woke with a scream lodged deep in her throat. Her chest rose and fell in a rapid beat as she fought back the nausea and smell of burning cloth. That would be the fifth night since returning that she had that dream. Flames and fire and Charming vanished like a candle snuff, always just out of reach and never able to touch.

She blinked twice and rolled onto her side, sucking in deep, shuddering breaths. There was no candle on her bedside table. In fact, her bedside table was very, very not her own. David wouldn't do something like that and neither would Emma, which was about the only reassuring thing she could think of in this situation.

A situation where she woke up in a strange bed without her husband and no notion of how she could have gotten there wasn't a new one. It was starting to become such a horrible habit of her's that she had to wonder if she wasn't still cursed to live an existence without her family. No one could blame her when her foot got tangled in the sheets and she fell to the floor with a thump and a frightened yelp.

First-Person Sample: Well, I certainly wasn't expecting this to happen again so soon. I'm more than ready to go home now. What more can anyone want from me? I just want peace.

That's all I've ever wanted.
